As long as Nadal is playing in RG, I don't think Federer will ever win the French Open.

IMO the win of Roger today shouldn't be overestimated. As already said, the last weeks have been tough for Rafa. Many tournaments and many matches. I think in RG he will be back fresh and then no one will beat him.

IMO the win of Roger today shouldn't be overestimated.Of course not, Nadal is still the clear favourite. But at least the media will have something to write about at RG.

It's an important win for Federer as it's the first time he's beaten another member of the big 4 since the US Open and his serves and groundstrokes were the best they've been for a while.

Federer beat Nadal on a fast clay court in Hamburg two years ago but Nadal won Roland Garros. Djokovic will also feel good about how well he's doing on clay and when he gets over that agonising loss in the Madrid semi - but what a great match - he'll feel that he can take on and beat Nadal on clay. Doing it at Roland Garros is an entirely different matter.

The altitude in Madrid made the balls a little quicker and that benefited Federer and Djokovic against Nadal there but Roland Garros is slower and that benefits Nadal, plus he'll be rested for Roland Garros. Nadal has a formidable record there and is an absolute beast on clay and Roland Garros is his lair.

I think the draw will greatly influence which of the main four contenders reach the final. If Murray is in Nadal's section and Djokovic is in Federer's then it will most likely be a Nadal v Djokovic or Federer Final. If however, Murray is in Federer's section then I would put Murray as the favourite, and would put Nadal as the favourite against Djokovic, so in that scenario I'd expect a Nadal v Murray final. Either way I see Nadal as the RG champion in a few weeks time. Of course, which of the other three (Federer, Murray, Djokovic) reaches the final in Paris will largely influence who maintains/takes the number 2 spot in the rankings over the next couple of months. Murray has the least points to defend so a final finish would certainly support his attempts at reaching the number 2 spot.

Murray in final? On RG clay? Many players can take him down actually, he is great on hard but has yet to prove himself on clay. Del Potro could tell the tale.

Well we'll just have to wait and see. If Del Potro isn't in Murray's section then he probaby won't have to play him. Murray thrashed Robredo (a top-10 clay-court player), and apart from the other top-three there aren't really that many players that can beat him (if he is playing well, and even if its a clay court). Murray's game translates to all the surfaces really well, and I would expect him to get to the last four, yes, and if he meets Federer there then he has a chance to reach the final.

Borg didn't win five in a row either. Nadal can still beat Borg's record if he just wins more RG titles.

You've got to give a lot of credit to Soderling who played a great match and thoroughly deserved his win.

Soderling always seems to raise his game against Nadal in the slams, they had an epic encounter at Wimbledon a couple of years ago.
