Gonzo was on fire. Not much you can do when he decides to play like that.

looking forward to see him against federer,i think has chances to beat him

Well he has taken a set off Federer, winning the second 7-5. But I think thats about as good as it will get for the Chilean; Federer is already a break up in the final set, leading *2-1.

I want Roger Federer to make it through this match! Possibly another Roddick vs Federer bout, I'd love to see that.

EDIT: ^ My two favorite players in men's tennis, by the way.

Jonathan, you may be the only Roddick fan I know who actually enjoys it when he plays Fed. The head-to-head is a little one-sided,no?

Yeah, it's very one-sided, but I love to see them play because they're the two best players in the world, in my opinion. They also have two of the best service games in men's tennis, so it's always very entertaining when they face off. Tennis has always been a game of sportsmanship for me, so you'll never see me throwing chairs at people if my players lose, like in the Australian Open 2009. ;)

Great win by Nadal, he dealt superbly with the conditions whereas the wind affected Murray and his game pretty badly. I wonder if Nalbandian woke up with a 1000 yard stare or just shrugged.

I think that Federer might get back in touch with Darren Cahill. It's funny how people are saying that Federer needs to change his racquet but that Djokovic is losing because he changed his racquet.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

There was a blog entry about Nalby at the Daily Mail website,he seems to be bearing up well all things considered. :)

Fed doesn't need a new racket, just needs to relocate his cojones. That was the most abysmal set of tennis I've ever seen from him and that includes the final set from the AO final. :wall:

Great win by Nadal in IW.

I think now IW is definitly my most favourite tournament on the tour.

Of course because of Daniela, but now also Rafa showed this is one of his favourite places (at least on hardcourt) :D

For me, a pivotal match in Nadal's ascendency was winning Hamburg last year. While he'd won Monte Carlo, in many of his matches after Wimbledon 07 he'd been beaten fairly easily a lot of the time and Djokovic was the form player this time last year and Federer could blame his slump on his illness. Nadal beat Djokovic in the semi-final to keep the number 2 ranking but he was there for the taking in the final at 5-1 and set point down and not fully fit but Federer missed a relatively easy drive volley and Nadal fought back to win 7 games in a row and eventually win the match in three sets. What probably should have a Federer win turned into a Nadal win that gave him a huge surge of confidence that propelled him to Roland Garros, Wimbledon, the Olympics and the Number One ranking while the losses that Federer had, especially at Wimbledon, really hurt his confidence and his mantle of invincibility. I think the knowledge that his best level still might not be good enough to win has hurt him, certainly against Nadal and Murray is in the ascendency against Federer while a lot of other players will feel they have a chance and keep fighting against him. Nadal's game is so strong right now and combined with his mental strength, this breaks a lot of opponents.

Federer's racquet has one of the smaller heads and while most of the time his co-ordination and reflexes are so good he hits his shots perfectly, Nadal's forehand with its heavy topspin and high bounce is very difficult for Federer to deal with as he has to hit it a little higher than he likes and he has to flatten the topspin out and that takes its toll. Most of the time Murray attacks Federer's backhand by hitting a slightly different shot almost every time, so the bounce, spin or speed and often all three are different every shot and it's so disruptive to Federer's rhythm.
Maybe if Federer had a bigger racquet head which would give him a bigger sweet spot, his backhand could stand up better to the bombardment it gets from Nadal and Murray which causes it to break down late in matches but at the same time it is psychological breakdown as well. It also depends on how comfortable Federer is changing racquet.

Federer's been without a coach since getting rid of Tony Roach for almost two years (Hiqueras did briefly work with him) and the input of someone like Darren Cahill and a different perspective would help. Federer has to think it would help but he might be a lot more receptive to it if he doesn't win Miami. Federer's still a great player and would still be the big favourite to beat pretty much anyone but his level has dropped slightly while Nadal and Murray have made big improvements to their games.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

While I don't disagree with anything you said about Hamburg,I think in the long run winning at Queens(and becoming the first Spaniard to win on grass since 1966) was the more significant result for Rafa.
