What happened for Yanina Wickmayer? She received a wild card ( for the qualif?), she is in the main draw? Somebody knows?

What is the French Tennis Federation doing giving wildcards into the Australian Open to Grosjean and Cohen-Aloro?! Grosjean is nowhere near fit enough these days to compete well within a Grand Slam (where five set matches are always a potential). And in the case of Cohen-Aloro, there must be some French youngsters out there with plenty more potential. The wildcard should have gone to one of them. |

And I think the Asian wildcard has gone to Karatantcheva. So they've awarded a druggie with a wildcard, and moreover, Karatantcheva isn't even really Asian. I'm sure there was money and/or persuasion involved in her switch to Kazakhstan. So overall, not totally impressed by the wildcard choices for this years Open (except of course for Robson's place in the women's qualifying singles...) |

What happened for Yanina Wickmayer? She received a wild card ( for the qualif?), she is in the main draw? Somebody knows? She's been awarded a wildcard into the singles qualifying draw  She would have been a top-16 seed in the main draw! Its a shame for her because there's no guarantee that she will get through. Qualifying draws for Slams are always so competitive so she could come unstuck before even reaching the main draw...

I think they should have given her a wild card for the main draw so she could be seeded, as she deserves to be. I also feel bad for the players in the qualifying draw who has to play a top16 player |

I agree, its pretty unfair on anyone who is drawn in her section. Although it does give someone who normally plays on the ITF Tour the chance to play a top-20 player

Watch out for the Chinese. Zheng reaches another grand slam quarter-final. If she gets back in the top-twenty I'm sure she'll once again be the worst player within it... |

Kirilenko is through against Safina after the Russian number 1 retired when trailing 4-5. So we are definately going to see a surprise finalist from that side of the draw... Bottom half quarter-final line-up: HENIN [WC] v PETROVA [19] ZHENG v KIRILENKO Looks like a Williams semi-final in the top-half of the draw, but maybe Wozniacki and Azarenka can prevent that... Li is also in that section and she always caused Venus trouble. |
