Anne Keothavong [WTA 82], Elena Baltacha [WTA 133] and Georgie Stoop [WTA 363] will all attempt to qualify into the Bank of the West Classic main draw this weekend.

Keothavong has the easiest draw, seeded 3 in the qualifying event:

R1 - A.Podkolzina 6-0 6-2
R2 - T.Poutchek 6-3 6-3
R3 - J.Coin 6-1 6-0

Baltacha, who is unseeded, has a difficult draw:
R1 - A.Spears 5-7 4-6
R2 - S.Stosur[5]
R3 - A.Wozniak[4]

Stoop, who received a wildcard into the qualifying draw, also has a tough section:
R1 - O.Savcuk 6-7[0] 7-6[4] 6-0
R2 - O.Puchkova[8] 4-6 6-2 6-3
R3 - M.Larcherde Brito 4-6 0-6

Hopefully we'll see at least one Brit in the main draw, and possibly in the doubles draw too!

Main draw qualifiers: M.Larcherde Brito, M.Czink, A.Keothavong, C.Wozniak.

Now that Keothavong has climbed the rankings we are starting to see the fruits of her labour with better draws, the qualifying draw for Anne is pretty good, helped by the no'3 seeding. Ill be honest and say I dont know a lot about Anne's record on hard courts and it will be interesting to see if she can maintain her ranking over in America and maybe even improve it. Baltacha and Stoop's draws are difficult, but hopefully they may be able to surprise us

A good win for Keothavong, although expected considering the ranking difference between the two. Up next is Poutchek (WTA 160), another match that Anne should go into with a high level of confidence.
Georgie Stoop is going well against Olga Savchuk (a player who has beaten Daniela!) Stoop leads 5-3 in the first set, although there have been several breaks of serve already so she may struggle to hold onto that lead.

Stoop loses three straight games, but manages to hold serve and get to a tie-break. However, she loses this 7-0!

After leading 5-3 georgie dropped the opening set losing the resulting tie break to love, gonna be tough to come back from this

Scott

Edit: She has kept her play up, which is a credit to Stoop against a much higher ranked opponent than her and she has taken the 2nd set in yet another tie break

Savchuk's game has diminised; she's served 17 double faults in total.

Surprisingly, Georgie Stoop wins, coming from a set down, 6-7[0] 7-6[4] 6-0.

A great win for her against a much higher-ranked opponant. Next up is Olga Puchkova [WTA 118]

It's a good start from Stoop in R2 of qualifying - holds serve from 15:40 down against Russian Olga Puchkova.
The two have met once before, in Felixstowe, UK, in 2006, Puchkova winning 6-2 6-4. Hopefully Stoop can improve on this performance.
-Stoop has just broken on the first opportunity - leads 2-0.
-Stoop saves five break points in her second service game but eventually drops serve - now leads 2-1. :|

Stoop has dropped the first set 4-6, and its on serve in the second. Similar situation yesterday, holding her own so far, hopefully she catch a break

The second set has gone to Stoop 6-2, Puchkova's 19th!!!! Double Fault handing the brit the set

She has done it, another scalp for Georgie winning the 3rd set 6-3, helped by 26 doubles faults from the Russian, but the british wildcard is one win away from a main draw

Unbelievable win once again for Stoop (d. Puchkova[8] 4-6 6-2 6-3). She seems to have a talent of making her opponant serve loads of double faults.
Next up Larcherde Brito, an opponant she should feel confident of beating, although the teenager did defeat top seed Domachowska.

Keothavong has also advanced, defeating Poutchek in straight sets, 6-3 6-3. She will play Frenchwoman Julie Coin for a place in the main draw.

So it seems possible that we'll have two British women in a WTA tier II draw!

Sadly there are no Brits in the doubles draw, but its worth noting how competitive the draw is, with lots of top players competing, including Hantuchova/Petrova, Chakvetadze/Mirza, Vesnina/Zvonareva and Black/Huber.

Its always difficult to keep any momentum gained at Wimbledon going but the future is looking very bright for the british women on the tour. Keothavong qualifying would be a good achievement but based on her ranking achievable, as for Stoop she has certainly exceeded expectations and should she lose later today she has nothing to be dissapointed about
