Nicole Vaidisova (CZE)[18] def. Anna Chakvetadze (RUS)[8] 4-6 7-6(0) 6-3 in the second set Chaky has been 2 points away from victory at 5-4 on Nicoles serve. But Vaidisova hold her serve and won the tie break to 0. In the third set she dictated the match. |

Another one much like Agnieszka were I didnt think there would be a turn around but Chakvatedze has had some problems this year and cant seem to find the form of recent years, and it looks like Vaidisova is starting to find her form that she has also been missing recently Scott |

Really good tournament for Vaidisova after a long time without good results. Will be really interesting against Zheng Jie now. I think she has good chances against her. Good luck. |

Vaidisova's usual weaknesses weren't absent today. Her backhand was atrocious, ROS even more. But Chakvetadze proved to be more of a mental wreck these days. Her first serve has improved a lot I must admit, at least something positive to take from this match for her. |

If Nicole loses today then it will make Daniela's loss even more frustrating because she would have had a very good route through to the semi-finals and possibly even further. Mattek is currently a set and a break up, leads 6-4 *3-0. This tournament is really wide open in my oppinion, especially since Jankovic has stated that she is not competely fit, but is playing just to get some match practice. To me this sounds a bit stupid, but I suppose Jelena can't help herself when it comes to a heavy schedule. |
