what the hell was that  3-0

Have to say it was deserved, the first goal was ridiculously offside to be fair to Italy but the other two goals were of the highest quality, two of the best counter attacking goals you will see in international football and over all the dutch deserved it. Makes the next match in the this group France vs Italy an all or nothing affair

The first goal wasn't offside. There was an italian player behind the goal line and that counts as if he was in play.

Thats what I first thought as well, but the commentators on ITV and the writers on the BBC website were adamant that he was still offside

Right now it's very difficult to see past a Portugal v Germany semi-final from groups A & B as they both look a class above all the other teams in those two groups.

It's not that much of a shock that France couldn't score against Romania as Scotland played with a similar massed defence against France in the qualifiers and France couldn't break it down while Romania used the same tactics to get a win and a draw against Holland in the qualifiers. Domenech won't be around after this tournament, it's in the stars.

Great counter-attacking goals from Holland, especially as Italy came very close to scoring then Holland broke at speed to score. Italy also had a lot of good chances and have still got to feel confident about qualifying. The first goal was fine according to law 11:
"an opposing player cannot be offside when one of the last two defenders has left the field of play" which I learned about an hour ago.

Coaching Battle of the Bands: Slaven Bilic:

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

Brückner never announces starting 11 this soon. All he said was that victorious line-up does change.
We have a football saying here, which tells that victorious line-up doesn't change.

Well ive seen all 16 nations play now and Ive been impressed with Holland and Spain. Im still sceptical about Spain though because of there history in major competitions but they looked very good today against Russia. The dutch were brilliant against a under par Italian side and if they can keep that sort of play up they will be there or there abouts once we get to the final 4 and final 2. Other than those two I think Germany, who have been touted as the favourites since before the finals started, will be the finalists from the top half of the draw, apart from portugal there isnt really anyone there that I feel can do enough to stop Germany reaching the final, but in a one off match up I think Germany will have the mental strength to see them through to the final.

On that basis im going to say the final will be Germany vs Holland, but theres still a long way to go in these championships, and we all saw what Greece done last year, so who knows.

I think this shows how much of a difference in quality there was in the matches between Holland vs. Italy and Greece vs. Sweden

BBC Highlights NED vs ITA
(11mins 46secs)
BBC Highlights GRE vs SWE
(2mins 5secs) haha!!

Rumour is Baros and Matejovski for Jarolim and Plasil

second striker would be good for Koller
