Today saw the traditional curtain raiser to the football league season and next Saturday the Premier League, the most watched league in the world, starts up for another, undoubtedly, entertaining season when Chelsea take on Hull City on Saturday tea time. Use this thread to talk about your favourite teams, players, managers and upload any pictures of any games you may have been lucky enough to go to this season. Also want to know who you think will win the major prizes on offer this season, as well as your views on other issues such as who will go down, who will get into the top 4 and who will be the surprise package of the season. West Ham's Calum Davenport suffers 'serious' injuries after being stabbed

West Ham defender Calum Davenport is being treated in hospital after suffering "serious" injuries after he was stabbed at home in Bedford.

The 26-year-old defender is undergoing surgery on both legs.

"West Ham United can confirm that Calum Davenport was being treated in hospital on Saturday afternoon after an incident late on Friday night," read a statement on the club's offical website.

"The 26-year-old defender and his mum both suffered stab wounds at home in Bedford. His mum is recovering while Calum underwent surgery this morning and his injuries were described as serious by doctors.
