I bet the Germans cant believe their luck. Croatia outclassed them in their group game and I think the Germans will be thanking their lucky stars that they dont have to do that all over again in the Semi Finals.

Turkey had the 2nd longest odds to win this tournament ahead of Austria. Greece done it, so why not Turkey? This time however Turkey have pretty much lucked their way into the Semi's whereas Greece didnt. Last minute goal against Austria in the group, comeback from 0-2 down against the Czechs in the winner takes all group game, and now the win on penalties tonight.

Surely it cannot happen again, can it?!

What is going on!!! lol

So far we are 3 from 3 of the favourites being knocked out of their respective Quarter Finals. Germany, after their less than convincing performance in the group, certainly were not the favourites against the Portuguese; Turkey, the luckiest team in the competition by a country mile, were never meant to beat the Croat's, especially after they went behind with a minute to go of extra time, and now the Russian's beating by far and away the best footballing side in the competition so far in Holland.

This tournament so far hasnt stopped amazing me, and in a way im quite glad that the English arent there cause I probably wouldnt of enjoyed this tournament as much as I have so far

one of the best matches of the tournament, russia really deserved the victory.
i hope italy can beat spain tomorrow , they will so laugh right now with today's result , on the other hand, Russia played football like real madrid did few years ago, one time football , very fast ticking the ball around... never seen them like this , and still such a young team

I'm really looking forward to todays match. Hopefully this unbelivable series of favourites struggeling continues. I want to see Italy winning the title, but in this tournament you can't really say anything about what could happen during the next rounds. Seems like everything is possible. But in the last 3 matches always the favourite hasn't had a chance, so obviously Italy will win today :P

Exceptional performance by Russia who made Netherlands look very ordinary and Arshavin dictated the game but a great team performance. The USSR and Dynamo Kiev (ok, a Ukrainian club) played in that style when Lobanovsky was coach and there's been a few comparisons made between the Dutch and Soviet styles of passing and movement, especially with Hiddink as coach and Advocaat's success at Zenit St Petersburg, where Arshavin plays.

Spain deserved their win as they were the more positive team and had played better during the tournament although they found it hard to get past the Italian defence and Russia will defend a lot better than they did in the group match.

Didn't England turn down Hiddink in favour of McClaren?

I think he openly said that he wouldnt come to us, but if we did turn him down then the FA cocked up quite badly

European Championship Semi Final - Germany 3 vs 2 Turkey - Full Time

:woohoo:

my heart's still beating with 180bpm

Germany didn't play very well, but in the end they reached the final in a very thrilling game and with a last minute goal 8-)
but my respect goes to turkey, they played an amazing tournament and would have deserved to win in this semifinal!!

The final tonight and Im hoping for a great match to end a great season of football, well for me at least anyway :D Im rooting for the Spaniards tonight but you can never entirely back against the Germans who always seem to pull it out of the hat some how.

How does everyone else think the final will go tonight?

i think it will be a boring final like usual , one team that wants to play football but will face a good organised Germany that will try to score on a counter.

i think 1-0 for Germany

Spain deserved to win as they were the much better team in the final and the most consistently good team throughout the tournament. Spain controlled the game, created a lot of chances and should have won by more than they did, but they neutralised Germany who hardly had any chances.

Overall, it's been a very enjoyable tournament with lots of attacking football and great games.
