Hantuchova advances at China Open BEIJING (TICKER) —Daniela Hantuchova had little trouble advancing to the second round of the $600,000 China Open. The seventh-seeded Slovakian cruised through her first-round match of the Tier II hardcourt event on Monday, defeating Gisela Dulko of Argentina, 6-3, 6...

Really nice & easy win by Daniela. It was close at the start but when she got the break she powered through the match while Dulko collapsed. Daniela got the job done and to get a win like this will help with her confidence although there will be tougher matches ahead. Daniela dominated on serve ...

Werder Bremen couldn't score at home against Anorthosis Famagusta but win 5-2 away at Bayern Munchen. The draws in group E have benefited Man Utd and Villareal as Celtic really needed to beat Aalborg at home given how bad their away form is. Man Utd and Villareal will probably win both their games a...

Dulko's a good draw for the first round as she's on a losing streak, her hardcourt results have been pretty poor this year and Daniela thrashed her the last time they played in Linz. This is a match Daniela really has to win as this is a really good opening draw and a great chance for a win and get ...

This is another disappointing result. Daniela played badly in the first set, especially on serve, but she improved in the second set and should have won it as she had set points and then BPs to take it into the tiebreak. I don't know if Schiavone played those points well, in which case credit to her...

Its still been a fairly good week with back to back wins for the first time since her comeback but her confidence I believe is the lowest it has been since 2003. Her fitness seems to be ok, and people may criticize me for saying this, but I believe Daniela needs to speak to a sports psychologist in...

Schiavone's a decent enough draw for the first round. Her recent form is fairly modest with a lot of early exits. While many of the players that beat Schiavone went on the have good runs at the tournament, the only top player she's beaten since March is Radwanska at the Olympics. I really think that...

This is a big disappointment and definitely a feeling of a missed opportunity as this is a match that Daniela should have won and it's a match she lost, rather than Paszek winning. Daniela didn't play well and that's why she lost. "It was a very close match, she doesn't give up, she played toug...

A win's a win and it's only the third time this year that Daniela's won consecutive matches, which shows how much her season's been derailed by illness and injury. It's a bit of a concern that Daniela blew a 4-0 lead to let Chan get to set points in the first set, but she saved them and won the tieb...

One last point about the US Open: it's the second straight year that someone who's trained at Sanchez Casal's been a finalist. Maybe another Sanchez Casal player can go one better next year.
