Sadly this scoreline is horrible. However you guys may feel about Maria, she is a great champion and very effective in general (against others not named Williams), Daniela has only been able to win their first meeting when Maria was only a kid and it was still pretty close. I think Li is the one playing the best and I would like her to win. But it's exciting to have a maiden GS champion (at least at the AO).

Pity Daniela could not take any advantage of an injured Serena. And while I much prefer Serena to Ana, it's nice to see the draw being more interesting.

It was not only aces, though, Daniela made some silly mistakes when she had chances. Serena is gonna breeze through this second set, I bet.

While I don't think Daniela will make a dent on Serena, I do hope she goes and plays freely. Her only win against Serena came to a very erratic opponent, though she seized her chance and ran away with it (let's forget when she was beaten by a one-legged Serena).

I think the best thing at the moment, besides Daniela's amazing resilience, is that she is managing to win a title per year; something that was elusive to her.
