Daniela is No 11 :(
She will be No 10 next week as Bartoli will lose her points from DFS Classic (SF last year)
Welcome back Danka!!!

Bartoli has to lose before the semi final stages first, but on recent form thats quite likely

Does Bartoli not have any points that she can replace with those points lost in Birmingham (if she loses before semi's) or is she really that bad?!

Bartoli will lose 65 points because she reached the SF last year in Birmingham and this result was one of her 17 best. So if she reaches SF again she will gain the same amount of points, and thus stay ahead of Danka with 3 points as now.
However, if Bartoli fails to reach the SF, her 18th best result right now will become her new 17th best result. Her 18th best result was this year in Rome where she got 60 point. However this would mean that she drops 5 points and Daniela will then be 2 points ahead of Bartoli.
Right now Bartoli's back-up tournaments are
Rome, Moscow, San Diego 60 points each
Sydney 35 points
Stanford, LA, Kolkata, Stuttgart, Doha, Dubai, Amelia Island 1 point each
so she has good back-ups: 3 of 60 points
However, she will probably not defend her SF at Eastbourne (125 points) and then drop (125-60) 65 points more on Monday 23rd.

to compare:
Daniela will not drop any points this week since Birmingham is not one of her 17 best results. However, S'Hertogenbosch is, so on Monday 23rd she will drop those 65 points but they will be replaced with her current 18th best: Stuttgart 40 points. That is a drop of 25 points.
Daniela's back-up tournaments right now:
Stuttgart 40 points
Sydney, Birmingham, Los Angeles 35 points each
New Haven, Amelia Island 1 point each
see, Daniela doesn't have good back-ups

Bad to see Daniela not in the top 10 anymore and on the other hand Bartoli remaining in front of Daniela. Hopefully Daniela gets back soon.

Im sure danka will be back in the top ten in no time... Bartoli wont last there. That gives danka a breather to regain her form :)

Bartoli is not the big problem. Sure she is right now ahead of Danka, taking the last spot in the top10, but Bartoli has too many points to defend this grass season. Instead worry about Zvonareva. Cause she will mean trouble. However, Venus will be out of top10 after Wimbledon leaving one more space open.

Christina is right. It is Vera we should pay attention

ZVONAREVA, VERA RUS
Doha I 24.02.08 F 325.00
Charleston I 20.04.08 F 300.00
Miami I 06.04.08 SF 225.00
French Open GS 10.06.08 140.00
Luxembourg II 30.09.07 SF 125.00
Prague IV 04.05.08 W 115.00
Indian Wells I 23.03.08 QF 115.00
Moscow I 14.10.07 QF 110.00
US Open GS 09.09.07 3.R 90.00
Hobart IV 13.01.08 F 80.00
Bangalore II 09.03.08 QF 70.00
Quebec City III 04.11.07 SF 65.00
Rome I 18.05.08 3.R 60.00
Zurich I 21.10.07 2.R 60.00
Auckland IV 06.01.08 QF 30.00
Australian Open GS 27.01.08 1.R 2.00
Wimbledon GS 08.07.07 0.00

Total : 1912.00

Then she will gain a lot of more points from grass season or at least from Wimby.

Wow those results from Vera are amazing. Who says that Venus won't win Wimbledon again this year?

I know, Venus can play like crap all year and then win Wimbledon - never underestimate a Williams - but I just don't see it happening.

It somehow happened last year, and like Christina I cant see it happening this year. Venus hasnt been playing that well all year on all surfaces and I dont see much chance in this tournament

hmm, Venus is always a menace in Wimbledon. She just plays good there, no matter what her previous form is. However I also dont see her winning this year. I think Serena and Maria are hungry to win this Wimbly. Ana proved las year shes good here too. Hope Danka can play, gets a good draw and at least defends her points while gaining her form back... Maybe its too much to ask

Im not putting any hopes on Daniela doing well at Wimbledon, if she plays there of course, but I do feel that if she can get a good draw that the 4th round is very plausible. It would also be a great confidence boost for Daniela to get that far in the tournament knowing how long shes been off court for. But for her to get to the 4th round I think realistically she needs to play Rosmalen next week and have a decent draw at Wimbledon, being seeded 10th or 11th will hopefully help that

Let's hope for a good draw. But you can never know. There are so many great players these days how are current unseeded. So also early rounds could be very hard. And without many matches before Wimbledon it will be even harder.

Some of you make it sound like Daniela is sure to play, which is far from being the case as of now.

Daniela withdrew from Rosmalen. I am afraid she will be forced to pull out of the Olympics, which would be really sad given the fact how much she was looking forward to it.
