And regarding the roof, I think the organisers are concerned about the fact that if they have a full day's play on centre with it closed and it doesn't actually rain, then that means three winners have player indoors, and the other day's winners have played an outdoor event. Not only does the roof change the nature of the event, but it potentially creates advantages/disadvantages for various players.

Obviously you could also argue that it's slightly unfair that when it does rain the majority have to sit around in the locker room while a select few win through to the next round, but grand slams are obviously spectator events and not just about the tennis tours, so there has to be a compromise.

And as eddy says, it is impressive that Daniela even reached the third round, which makes her performance today slightly sweeter, and her loss a little less dissapointing.

I wasn't disappointed with her tennis at all,she put up a fine performance. Losses in Slams,I find, are the hardest to take-particularly when the luck was not on her side. Plus I do think her injuries hampered her-not by much, but enough to make a difference in a contest such as this.

really sad she lost ... :( but she plays great tennis in the 2 nd set and in parts of 1st and 3rd too.
and she lost against the 4th!! seed!
and in case of her injury it was a good tournament. :)

hope she can make a deep run in doubles :)

If Daniela hadn't given Azarenka so many chances, maybe she would have won the first set and finished the match before the rain..
She called for the trainer almost as soon as she started playing, and had some of the strapping removed from her shoulder.
I'm glad her match was on centre court, but it was frustrating to watch (and hear!).
Fingers crossed for the doubles..

Doubles should be on. Paszek had an awfully long match against Schiavone today although Schiavone's playing doubles at the moment.

Doubles is on.
1-0.
1-1.
2-1. The Wimbledon livescores are very basic compared to the regular tour one and the other slams.
3-1. Daniela & Agnieszka break. Eventually, scoreboard kept flipping around and randomly deducting points but it's 3-1.
4-1. Saved some BPs.
4-2.
4-3. Broken. The scoreboard keeps on randomly deducting points, Daniela & Agnieszka were 30-0 but got broken.
5-3. Daniela & Agnieszka break to 15, wait scoreboard's gone back to 40-15, now it's 5-3.
6-3. Daniela & Agnieszka serve out the first set. Scoreboard was stuck at ad for about 3 minutes now it's gone to 15-15 in the next game.

0-1. Klemenschits and Paszek hold.
1-1. Daniela & Agnieszka hold to 0.
1-2.
2-2. Wait it's gone back to deuce, 1-2. Now it's 2-2. Whenever a game goes to two ads, you've got to assume that it's probably just one ad what with points being randomly deducted.
3-2. Now it's back to ad Daniela & Agnieszka, now it's a break. It was two ads - one ad? - for Paszek and Klemenschits then it went from ad to them to ad for Daniela & Agnieszka.
4-2. Hold to 30. Can this fucking scoreboard stop deducting points, it's really getting on my tits.
5-2. Double break, rub a dub dub. Djokovic is serving for the match against Baghdatis, it's been a good game to watch. Baghdatis saved a MP.
6-2. Daniela & Agnieszka win.
Djokovic just won too, that was a really good match.

Glad they got the doubles win. Hopefully daniela's injuries are not getting worse. Can't believe that either paszek or pervak will be Wimbledon quarter finalists. Winner of azarenka/petrova has such great chance for semis just wish it could have been daniela.

A Spanish protest group was planning a demonstration at Wimbledon yesterday but the police stopped it.

Demonstrators trigger Wimbledon lockdown
By Robin Millard (AFP) – 1 day ago

LONDON — Police stopped a Spanish group of economic crisis demonstrators from entering the Wimbledon tennis championships on Saturday, causing hold-ups for thousands of fans waiting to get inside.
The 14 protesters from the Spanish-based 15M movement, wearing yellow T-shirts reading "real democracy now", had tins of paint and banner-making equipment hidden in their bags.

Sources said they were Spaniards looking to protest about Madrid's economic policies. It was feared they might have been targeting the match involving Spain's world number one Rafael Nadal, the Wimbledon men's champion.

Club officials kept the gates closed for an extra 45 minutes while they assessed the nature of the threat.
The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) imposed the security lockdown so officials "could establish what the level of threat was". A police helicopter was scrambled to the south-west London complex to monitor the situation.

Why isn't the same effort devoted to stopping Jimmy Jump?
