She always had the game, it was just a matter of belief. She also didn't have a very good backhand. It's not fantastic now but it's hardly the massive weakness it used to be. She also stopped playing so much doubles. It's sorta similar to Alicia Molik's previous top ten appearance; she improved that 1 or 2% in a couple of categories and it really put her ahead of the pack. And, without stating the completely obvious, her serve devastating.

Me too. But it's good to see Schiavone there :) After of 10 + years on tour, only 2 titles and here is she.

I really don't think Daniela will impove her ranking this year. She need a QF at least in Wimbledon or US Open to have chances. But to tell the truth Hantuchova never seems able to do what Frany did in RG. It's still good seeing Daniela in Top 30. I think we should be happy for it. 2 years now she didn't show any fact abilities to go above the ranking. Only few good results here and there. She even can't win 4 matches in row.

I guess there aren't many things to wait for, anymore. The only possibility to see Daniela in Top will be at last stages of her career. So, in 2-3 years.

She's done so well this past fortnight predominantly because of her forehand in my opinion. That's what gave her the win over Henin and contributed to her win over Williams. Her serve had more of a role against Jankovic, hence the comfortable scoreline. In the final today Stosur is the out and out favourite, particularly since Schiavone has struggled so often in finals in the past. Straight sets for the Aussie is my prediction.
She probably won't do as well at Wimbledon because she won't be able to hit her in-to-out forehand as effectively. But that won't really hurt her ranking too much, and with the hard court season coming up she could be in the top-four or -five before the US Open.
