At least she's done better than Beijing 57 25 Danka serving to stay in the match...

Jelena Jankovic d Daniela Hantuchova 75 62 :( The score doesn't reflect how many chances Daniela had...if she had taken them Daniela could have won 64 64 or something like that...

Is JJs 2nd serve any good? Causa daniela doesn't take advantage of it at all...

over now... 7-5, 6-2 for Jelena... I guess daniela made the effort, but couldnt convert any of the chances

That is really a bad loss. Daniela had so many chances and didn't take them.
Frustrating stats:
Jankovic only made 7 points more than Daniela. (75-68)
Daniela took only 2 break points (2/11 - 18%)

The positive thing is, that Daniela was clearly competitive in this match. Her form is good now. She only has to take her chances. Hope for the break through at the French Open. I think one big win would make the difference. And hopefully a bit luck for the draw.

Same old story... has the guns but doesnt take the chances. At least shes playing much better on regular basis, which is less frustrating. Hope she can do more damage at RG. Go Danka! :)

I'm frustrated why she hasn't entered either Warsaw or Strasbourg next week...

I'm frustrated why she hasn't entered either Warsaw or Strasbourg next week...

I suppose it will give her chance to re-group after three straight weeks on the tour, and put her in a position to really make a challenge at Roland Garros. I'm hoping for a fourth round finish in Paris. I think its very possible if Daniela doesn't draw a top-eight seed in the early rounds. Its really all on the luck of the draw when you're unseeded. She could get Dementieva in round 1, or she could get an unseeded player and be in the same section as a lower seed such as Radwanska or Cornet. Lets just hope for a scenario like the latter...

Daniela may just about squeeze a seeding yet...I think Daniela will be ranked #35 next week which will be the seedings for Roland Garros. Zvonareva is rumoured to be out for 6 weeks and we all know Srebotnik has been out of action this whole season. Bammer withdrew this week with another injury and Lisicki also was injured last week although I think it was general fatigue. I don't want players to be injured, but for Daniela getting a the 32nd seed may jjust help her get to the 3rd or 4th round...

However, Schiavone having a good week in Madrid so if she reaches the quarters she will surpass Daniela...

If i'm wrong about any of the possible injuries please inform me...

I'm concerned, hope her legs ok, and this is just a precaution...

Glad i went to bed, haha.

What an entirely frustrating result. You could just tell this would have been the type of win that would have given Daniela's season a real kick-start. It's disappointing to see that she had so many opportunities but couldn't convert any of them. Particularly with that first set. Ugh. It could have been a totally different story.. but i guess that's tennis :S

As for getting a seeding for RG, i'm not entirely sure she deserves one. She hasn't produced enough half decent wins to realistically have earned a seeding at RG. Although Daniela's missing a large chunk of points from the mid-late part of last season, if she really wants to be a solid top ten player (make the YEC), then she should have been back inside the worlds top 30 at least by now. While i'd still prefer to see her seeded at RG, i would have much preferred to see her earn her position like she earned her position at the YEC in 2007. But i guess she's just not mentally where she was in 2007, atm.

As for her chances at RG.. i can't see her making it far past the 3rd round. While she seems to be playing some consistent tennis now, i just don't think she's going to produce 3 wins in a row at RG of all places. Although, if she gets a particularly favourable draw she might finally have the form to capatilise on something this season.

It's hard not to feel frustrated by this result, particularly since Daniela had sooooo many chances, and also since Daniela is actually playing some nice tennis. It sucks, cos early this year she was getting nice draws but playing sub par, and now she's playing solid tennis but getting stinky draws.

I personally would have preferred a seeding for RG, just so that she can avoid one of the harder seeds until R3, and therefore gain some important ranking points. It's unlikely she will be seeded for RG, as Szavay's win yesterday pushes Daniela down to #36. She could get a seeding if 2 more players withdraw (i.e. assuming Srebotnik and Zvonareva are out). Meh, I just want her to play good tennis and get some wins.

I do hope that strapping is precautionary!

FYI.. there's a short highlights video of the match on the official WTA website.

I was very dissapointing that she was leading in the first set...If she wins that set I think she will win it in two sets.
But she was playing good tennis now...

I also want her to enter a tournament next week so be seeded if she got any wins there...but if she wants enough rest and practice let her be...

I just hope the bandage was just a precaution...

As for RG making it to round3 would be good and I;m still waiting for her to make us surprise by choking some players rank above her...

do u think she can make us surprise in RG?

Funny what a good draw can do. Daniela whipped Vera Dushevina last week in Rome, and now Dushevina's in the QF at Madrid.

Why are things never fair in this world??
