I thought about travel to Stuttgart and watch her first match there, but with Zvonereva as oponent it's a waste of time.

Maybe she's out of this tournament when ES start the broadcast.

They have played twice in the past ( 2006 and 2007 ) and Zvonareva won.
In both matches, Vera was lower ranked to Dani.
Could it be Dani's time to upset higher ranked Vera ??
If she plays like in the first set v Jankovic, she has chances.

Zvonareva is a bad opponent for Daniela as one of the ways she tries to beat her opponents is changing direction of her shots from one corner to the other one, which is doom for slow players and she does it pretty well and consistently.

Zvonareva's one of the harder first round opponents for Daniela. Daniela showed glimpses of her best in Beijing but Zvonareva went a round further and also won Guangzhou, albeit that had a weak field. There's a good chance that Zvonareva could be tired from her efforts over the past couple of weeks and she'll have a day less than Daniela to get over the jetlag. It's pretty likely that this will be one of the last first round matches to be played as both Daniela & Zvonareva went on good runs in Beijing.

Zvonereva's won the previous two meetings, but they weren't in optimum conditions for Daniela as it was windy and blustery in Auckland while the other was in Miami where Daniela has a terrible record, whereas this is indoors which is better for Daniela.

Daniela can win this match but she'd have to play well and sustain her level. Zvonereva has lost to some fairly moderate players this year but she's also had a lot of wins, Daniela's never beaten her, Zvonareva's style of play is difficult for Daniela and Zvonareva's form this year's been better. Daniela's the underdog, but she showed she was coming into form in Beijing and this is indoors, so why not.

Daniela Hantuchova is right about everything.

That are really horrible draws for Daniela. Hopefully Zvonareva is tired from Beijing. Altough Daniela has improved last week I don't think she has many chances if Zvonareva plays like in Beijing.

I just hope Daniela can continue playing indoor that way she did last year.

This is Daniela's chance to really get stuck into one of her matches with Zvonareva, i.e. at least win a set. The two previous meetings have been really one-sided but I think she can trouble the Russian if she plays some of her attacking tennis and cuts down on the errors and poor serving. Obviously when you go on the attack the errors come; Daniela will just need to find a balance. I'm hoping that she at least manages to win a set this time round, but I think she can win the whole match. Alot of it depends on how well Vera has recovered from all the tennis she has played recently and how error-strewn Daniela's game is.

What really sucks about the draw is that there's no light at the end of the tunnel. In other words, even if she upsets Zvonareva (which is very possible), there's another very difficult match behind it. Were she elsewhere in the draw even with a tougher first round opponent, you could at least see how she can reach a QF. It's just hard to see her putting together a good enough run to beat two excellent players in a row.
By the way, I don't put any stock into their previous head-to-head record. Two matches is nowhere near a large enough sample size to ascertain any kind of conclusion about any matchup advantage either player may have. They both play similar styles with both seeking to end points quickly with aggressive plays (particularly backhands) down the lines. Neither is a spectacular server, but neither will they have the 8-10 DF match like a Chakvetadze or Dementieva might. You'd have to favor Vera because she's been much the better player for nine months now. But Daniela did just put together a nice tournament according to the reports here and she's beaten plenty of players better than Vera before (when she's in form). The downside again is that it's hard to see any kind of a run at this tournament. The realistic upside for Daniela is one win, maybe there's a 5-10% chance for two.
