Unfortunately Daniela has been scheduled 2nd match on court 13 so we won't be able to watch it. Can't believe they've put the likes of Wickmayer vs Riske on a show court...

Am not looking forward to this match at all for if Pliskova has a good serving day then I think Daniela will really struggle. However the match is going to be in the heat of the day so that might help Daniela the longer the match goes on. I think that should be Daniela's tactic..to stay out there as long as possible and try and wear Pliskova down. Very nervous about this one...

I'm never that happy when Daniela gets put out on an outside court against a lower ranked player. I really did think that she was popular enough and ranked high enough to get on one of the show courts, especially compared to some of the matches on show courts. As long as Daniela wins this she should be on a big court for the next round. She's not on last but she is on after a men's match which could be quick or it could feature a comeback from 2 sets down to be a long five setter.

We'll see the sort of effect the heat has. Daniela's generally coped with heat pretty well in her career but this is a match where whoever copes with the heat best will have a big advantage. Serve will be important, Daniela will have to get a lot of good first serves in while making sure that she's able to return Pliskova's serve.

Much fretting today, my goodness, guys. Are you suffering from Triskadiskaphobia (Court #13) :!: :?:
Remember, Daniela is in the land of No Worries, Mate!
I get what you're saying. But frankly, the schedule today is a blessing for me. Had this been set as the first match, I couldn't follow it because I'm doing a high school basketball game on the radio at that time. Now, should the men's match last 2 1/2-3 hours, I'm home in time! I can't miss any Daniela match……she needs all my crazed superstition-laden support!

That was ridiculous... screaming at StatTracker until ESPN sent one of their commentators down with a camera to stand in a corner... but to go that long in that heat, and come back from 0-40 after missing out on a couple of match points and end up winning it... my oh my.

Thank you for doing the livescores, Patti. It couldn't have been good for the nerves but it makes the win so much sweeter.

:!: :) :!: YES!!!
I was doing a running account, but it got lost somehow. How did these two do this in that heat? Dani showed how much she was gonna fight when she fought off 6 breakpoints in the 5th game of the first set for a 4-1 lead. This was an epic. Full marks to Pliskova; she clearly played her butt off. Daniela missed 4 match points, yet overcame 0-40 at 8-8. What a gutty gal!! I could not be prouder. Nice reward for all this……Serena. But I love that Daniela will get a shot at her. WOW, WOW, WOW!!

Pliskova was kind enough to DF on match point eddy. Those who watched ESPN coverage say both players were dead on their feet.

Any video of the last few points most appreciated! I hope the serena match is on hisense. That would be fair as neither have played on that court whereas serena has played twice on rod laver.
