After choosing to miss the united game to see some friends before returning to uni this weekend, seeing the result makes my choice more justified. I watched some of the highlights and we certainly should of have had at least one penalty but I just dont understand Fergie's choice for the starting line up. Brown, Vidic, Giggs, Anderson, Ronaldo all on the bench. Instead we had Neville, Evans, Hargreaves, Park all starting. Now I can understand him leaving out Ronaldo but the other 4 come on!

The only bright part of the night was the return of Ronaldo who proved how important he is too us and we're going to need him from the start on sunday against Chelsea otherwise we are faced with a mountain to climb should we lose, a 9 point deficit just 4-5 games into the season will be tough to claw back even with the amount of games left to play this season

you mean the fault on Park ? that was definitely a penalty

Yea the foul on Park by Capdeville I think it was, was a stick on penalty, but some you get some you dont. Its the best of start and it now means that we really need a win against Aalborg to get our foot in the door of this group because the tougher games are to come, especially the double header against Celtic

I thought that the referee at Old Trafford was very bad, dut you should take a look at what happened at Glasgow ( Celtic v Aalborg ). The referee ( his name is Trefoloni, i think ) gave red card to the wrong guy !! After 80 minutes of play, Michael Jacobsen gave Samaras a hard tackle but the referree confused the players and decided to show the red card to Michael Botcham !!
He is expected to be punished by UEFA, but that was a very very bad mistake.....

The red card was rescinded and given to Jacobson who will now serve a one match ban, the referee has been repremanded but it is unknown what his punishment is.

Werder Bremen couldn't score at home against Anorthosis Famagusta but win 5-2 away at Bayern Munchen.

The draws in group E have benefited Man Utd and Villareal as Celtic really needed to beat Aalborg at home given how bad their away form is. Man Utd and Villareal will probably win both their games against Aalborg -definitely the home games - and both teams should beat Celtic at home. Celtic did beat Man Utd in 2006 and have a great home record, so they're not out of it but they're at a disadvantage already.

I'm wondering how much longer Thierry Henry's going to be in the Gillette commercials with Tiger Woods & Roger Federer. They're legends of their sport while Henry seems to be about the fifth best player in his position on his team. Barcelona started Eto'o & Messi against Betis yesterday and sent on Bojan & Gudjonsson as substitutes while Henry stayed on the bench twiddling his thumbs and contemplating his razors. I think he's going to be advertising Bic before too long.
