I still can't believe how Phelps won the butterfly. With anyone else it would be luck, but with him it's destiny. It's absolutely phenomenal what he's achieved. 8 gold medals in Beijing, 14 Olympic golds in total and I think he's coming back for more in London.

Usain Bolt was incredible. To run that fast so easily is unbelievable and it just seemed like he was playing out there.

I saw a bit of the sailing and there was a storm and it seemed like all the boats in the 49ers class either sunk or capsized, it was like the end of Titanic. Denmark capsized almost at the finish but they were okay as they were able to get it upright again and get across the finish in a boat they'd borrowed from Croatia. A good day for Denmark: they didn't drown and they got a gold medal. Hurrah!

Some of the climaxes to Phelps race have been phenominal, none more so than his first relay medal of the games with his partner being so far behind the frenchman with about 10 meters to go and to win the butterfly as well by 1 hundreth's of a second, it surely had to be of been fate and now Phelps wants to go and win medals in races he's never raced before, what else is this man capable of.

As for Usain Bolt, that guy is a freak of nature, who knows what sort of time he is capable of if he actually raced at 100% to the line, i have never seen anything like that in athletics and it will be interesting to see if he can repeat the feat in the 200 meters later in the week

Phelps wins the Butterfly:

Not even close.

I loved Isanbayeva. One vault to warm up, second one to win and the last for the world record. Easy.

what's a baton ? what happened ?

There were a lot of dropped batons and missed changeovers in the 4 x 100 metre relays. In one of the men's heats, half the teams didn't finish or were disqualified. Both the US men and women dropped the baton at changeovers, the British men were disqualified after one of their runners went off to fast and went out the changeover zone and the Nigerians ran into each other. Every heat had at least two disqualifications or did not finish.

That guy is an absolute joke, in a good way though. What is the point in anyone else even bothered when that man is in the race? And again it seemed that he wasnt trying to whole way taking time out with 10-20 meters to go to see where Tyson Gay was and watch the clock as he ran past the line, god knows what he could achieve if he ran full out the whole way

After what's been going on with the winner of the womens 800m (female, male, something else, not sure), I wondered about the sort of women they have in South Africa, then I remembered that Charlize Theron is South African

The thing is: you're taking a chance if a go wife swapping or swinging in South Africa, when you go for the lucky dip you're thinking Charlize (or someone like her) but you could get really unlucky and quickly lose the will to live. Big reward but big risk, a lot of variety if nothing else.

I'm not familiar with South African wife swapping etiquette.
